Environmental Technician

A new role in the Environmental and Energy department, the aim of the role is to support the operation of the environmental processes on site and with the continual improvement system, in conjunction with the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System.
Your Tasks
- Monitor and optimise environmental abatement processes on site for both air and water emissions systems, including the WESP and flotation process, Bioscrubber, Reed Beds and surface water drainage system.
- Oversee and continually improve the waste management processes on site, including the organising of collections, monitoring of waste streams and segregation and providing training to employees.
- Monitor and report environmental KPIs, looking for any trends and investigating any deviations.
- Gain and implement knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and provide guidance to departments as required.
- Support the Plant Director Production/Technical and Production Managers on environmental topics and conduct local audits.
- Communicate and co-operate with other EGGER plants and Group personnel as required, including occasional travel to other EGGER locations.
Our Requirements
- A degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline would be advantageous but a minimum Level 4 qualification in an environmental, science or engineering field is acceptable, however experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
- Good team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop.
- Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, in physically strenuous situations, and where manual handling of scientific equipment is required.
- Attention to detail, good analytical skills and a desire to provide excellent customer service are desirable characteristics of the successful candidate.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Intermediate standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills and organisational skills are also important.
