Mechanical Fitter (Day Shift)

Join EGGER and help keep our world-class manufacturing operation running at its best. We're looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our Maintenance Team at Barony. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who enjoys problem-solving, preventative maintenance, and working as part of a highly skilled team supporting a continuous manufacturing operation.

 

As a Mechanical Fitter, working on day shift, you'll play a key role in maximising plant availability, maintaining equipment reliability, and ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.

What you'll be doing

 

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, and repair work across site.
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults to minimise downtime and optimise production performance.
  • Working independently on routine engineering tasks while following established maintenance procedures.
  • Supporting plant reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Completing maintenance records, SAP reports, and shift handover documentation accurately.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety procedures and site standards.
  • Reporting hazards, incidents, equipment condition issues, and production concerns promptly.
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues across Maintenance and Production teams.
  • Supporting the training and development of apprentices where required.
  • Participating in training programmes to develop knowledge across all areas of the Maintenance Department.

 

What we're looking for

 

Essential

 

  • SVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
  • Good understanding of mechanical maintenance principles and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety and housekeeping standards.

 

Desirable

 

  • Forklift Truck Licence prefered (training can be provided).
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
