Mechanical Fitter

Starting salary £43,633 per annum
What You’ll Do
You’ll play a vital part in ensuring our plant and equipment are running safely and effectively. Your responsibilities include:
- Carrying out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance
- Acting as the first point of contact for breakdowns and repairs
- Coordinating and supervising external contractors on site
- Supporting installation, commissioning and testing of new machinery
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime
- Ensuring all work meets safety, quality and compliance standards
- Keeping maintenance workshop and stores well-organised
- Attending training and internal meetings to keep skills up to date
What We’re Looking For
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience in welding operations
- Forklift Truck Licence – preferred, but training can be provided
- Previous experience leading or supervising contractors
- Strong understanding of health & safety legislation
- Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work a 45‑hour week, including paid breaks
