Mechanical Fitter

Starting salary £43,633 per annum

What You’ll Do

You’ll play a vital part in ensuring our plant and equipment are running safely and effectively. Your responsibilities include:

• Carrying out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance
• Acting as the first point of contact for breakdowns and repairs
• Coordinating and supervising external contractors on site
• Supporting installation, commissioning and testing of new machinery
• Identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime
• Ensuring all work meets safety, quality and compliance standards
• Keeping maintenance workshop and stores well-organised
• Attending training and internal meetings to keep skills up to date

What We’re Looking For

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Experience in welding operations
• Forklift Truck Licence – preferred, but training can be provided
• Previous experience leading or supervising contractors
• Strong understanding of health & safety legislation
• Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work a 45‑hour week, including paid breaks
