JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Health & Safety Program Implementation: Develop and assist in the implementation of health & safety programs and initiatives to maintain ISO 45001 certifications and promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Training and Development: Develop a training annual program, choose providers and assure to deliver safety training sessions for employees.
- Incident Management: Participate in the investigation of workplace incidents and accidents, documenting information and follow the EGGER Management Process, also recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Work in collaboration with Legal & Compliance department monitoring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, reporting any violations to the Safety Manager.
- Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards. Participate in EGGER Management System and ISO audits.
- Data Analysis: Analyze safety data and trends to identify areas for improvement, prepare reports for management and develop strategies to enhance workplace safety.
- Communication: Collaborate with other departments to promote safety initiatives and communicate safety-related information effectively.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans, trainings and procedures.
- Mentorship: Mentor and support safety staff and assist in their professional development.
- Assist the Health & Safety Manager to develop and implement health & safety programs and initiatives in Timberpak locations.
- Assist in promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in safety management or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years in a safety role.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental, Health or a related field is preferred.
- Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
- OSHA certification or similar safety training is highly desirable.
- ISO45001 certification desirable.
- Additional relevant safety and compliance certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), are strongly preferred.
- Valid US driver’s license in good standing.
SKILLS
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
SCHEDULE DEMANDS
- General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment; however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
- Frequent travel to various job sites.
- Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Occasionally required to walk long distances across uneven or unstable terrain.
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
- Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
- Possible exposure to hazardous materials and environments, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Necessitates emergency response capabilities.
