Schedule: 12-hour 2-2-3 shifts on Days (7am-7pm) or Nights (7pm-7am)

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Minimize machine downtime and unplanned breakdowns by performing preventive maintenance work, completing repairs in a timely manner, and implementing maintenance process improvements.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install equipment that utilizes hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and/or programmable logic controls (PLCs).
  • To undertake a comprehensive training program, to be able to understand every aspect of the Electrical engineering requirements within Siemens. To operate the company support systems and ensure they are properly used and maintained. To attend any further training / development courses as required.
  • To ensure the plant and equipment is fully operational and meets production requirements 365 days per year. To provide support to the manufacturing areas whilst meeting budgetary requirements and within agreed timescales.
  • To provide recommendations to improve plant and efficiency, along with cost effectiveness.
  • To communicate, cooperate where required with other group personnel.
  • To attend any meetings required as part of the normal duties, including occasional trips abroad.
  • To demonstrate professional development by keeping skills up to date and in providing evidence of continuing development.
  • To communicate effectively with the Management team in relation to all aspects of the operations, ensuring all issues are communicated in a timely and efficient manner and following the established reporting procedures.
  • To operate as a member of a team helping to achieve optimum plant utilization and efficiency.
  • To promote Safety, Health, Environmental and quality awareness.
  • To ensure that the operation and related tasks are conducted in a safe working manner and that any incidents/accidents and hazards are duly reported.
  • To maintain an orderly administrative system for the section, ensuring accuracy in all documentation.
  • To ensure induction and safety training for new starters or visitors who are working in your field of expertise and are directly managed by you.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLCs to control machinery and automate industrial processes.
  • Experience in installing, calibrating, and maintaining various sensors, transmitters, and control devices used in industrial automation. 
  • Knowledge of HMI systems and the ability to configure, troubleshoot, and maintain these interfaces for effective control and monitoring of industrial equipment. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems, diagnose faults, and repair or replace components as needed. 
  • Proficiency in understanding and working with various systems, including PLCs,  DCS and SCADA systems. 
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and control system schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. 
  • Have training and certification from Siemens as an advantage.
  • Programming experience preferably PLC Siemens (Simatic S7-1500), HMI Siemens WinCC, VFD (variable frequency drives: Sinamics, SEW, Lenze). 

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proven experience as a Controls Technician or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking, and control devices.

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 12-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time up to 12-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
