Machine Operator

MISSION / SUMMARY: 
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join our particleboard wood manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining machinery used in the upgrading of particleboard wood, ensuring the efficient and safe manufacturing of high-quality products.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Operate and monitor machinery used in the production process, including wood chippers, dryers, blenders, formers, and presses.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify any issues or malfunctions.
  • Adjust machine settings to control factors such as temperature, pressure, and speed to optimize production processes.
  • Monitor production output and quality, making adjustments as necessary to maintain product specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs, to ensure continuous operation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and quality control teams to address any equipment or product quality issues promptly.
  • Document production data, including machine settings, output quantities, and any maintenance or quality issues encountered during the shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment, preferably in wood processing or related industries.
  • Understanding of machine operations and the ability to interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to industrial machinery operation.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to monitor and maintain product quality.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical training or certification in machine operation or industrial manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with computerized control systems used in manufacturing processes.

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 12-hour rotating swing shift 7-7 assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 12-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
