Rawboard Operator

The Rawboard Operator will train in all aspects of the Rawboard Department (Wet Chip Prep, Drier, Dry Chip, Glue Kitchen, Conti Roll, Sanding, Wood Delivery) and follow standard operating policies. Assist in the achievement of operational targets whilst maintaining high levels of quality, safety, and environmental awareness within the department.

Starting Wage Range: $20.85/hour 

 
Schedule: 12 hour rotating swing shift, two weeks days 7am-7pm, two weeks nights 7pm-7am.

 

Responsibilities

  • Operate as a member of a team and to ensure that the Rawboard Department is maintained in a clean, tidy and organized condition.
  • Undertake a comprehensive training program to be able to run every aspect of the Conti Department.
  • Be able to cover all positions within the Conti Department if and when required.
  • Be able to set up and operate the equipment to meet production requirements.
  • Adjust and optimize recipes to maintain/improve quality and increase output.
  • Monitor equipment and the production process to detect evidence of operating problems.
  • Take readings from charts, meters and gauges at established intervals, and take corrective steps as necessary.
  • Inspect quality, identify and correct defects.
  • Identify the root-cause of defects in product and recommend processing adjustments to eliminate the defect.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and production issues.
  • Record and compile operational data, completing and maintaining forms, logs, and reports.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and team skills.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and PC based applications.
  • Experience with tools and machinery.
  • Good organizational skills and good mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Demonstrate ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Work efficiently and manage time effectively.
  • Possess physical strength and stamina required to stand, walk, and lift for long periods of time (can be in extreme climate conditions).
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools and the ability to lift and move 50 pounds to perform routine functions.
  • Ability to work at heights, in hot, and noisy environments.
  • High ability to manage stressful situations.
  • Work in confined space or areas restricting movement.
  • Basic understanding of math, reading, and writing.
