Specification Support Professional

The Specification Support Professional plays a vital role in ensuring the success of construction and manufacturing projects by providing technical and commercial support to the sales team, architects, designers, and contractors throughout the specification and project lifecycle. Acting as a crucial link between the sales team and the technical requirements, this position demands a unique blend of skills. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, sales acumen, and excellent customer service skills. JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Follow up on sample shipments to architects, designers, and contractors.
  • Engage in proactive outreach via calls, emails, and text messages to connect with potential leads.
  • Analyze architectural and engineering specifications to ensure product compliance and identify sales opportunities.
  • Log potential projects in Salesforce and notify the outside sales and specification team of larger opportunities.
  • Provide technical support and documentation to architects, designers, and contractors during the specification process.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate pricing and product configurations.
  • Review project requirements and recommend appropriate product solutions.
  • Support the sales and specification team with technical presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Maintain and update specification libraries and technical resources.
  • Assist with specification strategy support, including product availability and project pipeline tracking.
  • Monitor and report on Salesforce activities.
  • Support the implementation of the commercial strategy.
  • Participate in customer visits or conference calls and follow up on tasks using Salesforce.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE

  • Preference for candidates with experience in the building products industry (hardware, flooring, wood products).
  • Experience in design or specifications.
  • Background in sales or customer service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for building relationships across organizations.
  • Valid driver’s license.


EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE

  • Four-year degree strongly preferred in Architecture, Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Construction Management, or Business (sales).
  • 2-4 years of closely related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Salesforce (preferred).
  • Experience with SAP (preferred).
  • Familiarity with CAD and BIM is beneficial.

SCHEDULE DEMANDS

  • Not a remote or hybrid position.
  • General schedule is an 8-hour assignment, Monday through Friday; however, the employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally, including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends, and must be punctual.
  • Office-based position with on-site customer or project visits as needed.
  • Occasional overnight travel required, including flying, driving, or rail.
  • Role may require international travel; must be able to obtain a US Passport.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
