Warehouse & Safety Training Coordinator

Are you passionate about safety and training within a warehouse environment? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety and Training Warehouse Coordinator to join our team. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to drive safety initiatives, develop training programs, and ensure compliance within our warehouse operations. As a Safety & Training Warehouse Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing safety protocols, providing training, and ensuring compliance with forklift operation standards. This role involves developing and implementing safety procedures, conducting training sessions, and monitoring forklift operations to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Safety Oversight: Develop, implement, and enforce safety protocols and guidelines for forklift operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Training Programs: Design and conduct forklift operator training programs, including safety procedures, equipment operation, and maintenance best practices.
  • Certification Management: Manage forklift operator certification processes, ensuring that all operators are properly trained and certified to operate forklifts.
  • Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of forklift operations, identifying potential hazards, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into forklift-related incidents, analyze root causes, and develop preventive measures to enhance safety and prevent future occurrences.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, and compliance activities, and provide regular reports to management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing safety and training programs, staying updated on industry best practices, and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about relevant safety regulations and standards, ensuring that forklift operations adhere to all applicable laws and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in safety management and training, with a focus on forklift and warehouse operations.
  • Strong understanding of forklift safety protocols, equipment operation, and maintenance best practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively conduct training sessions and communicate safety guidelines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct safety audits, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
  • Familiarity with warehouse procedures, inventory management, and material handling practices to effectively navigate and operate within a warehouse or industrial setting.

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School Diploma or higher.
  • 2+ years experience forklift experience. 
  • Certification in safety management or occupational health and safety is preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, load capacity limits, stability considerations, and best practices for forklift operation in various environments.
  • Basic understanding of forklift mechanics, including routine maintenance, pre- and post-operation inspections, and the ability to identify and report mechanical issues.
  • Understanding of spatial considerations, including the ability to maneuver in confined spaces, stack and unstack materials, and navigate through warehouse layouts.

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional bending and lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
  • Ability to enter and exit forklift multiple times per shift as well as climb onto and off the forklift.
