Maintenance Technician 1
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, as Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for safely responding to all maintenance issues (i.e.: breakdowns, troubleshooting), maintenance follow-up from previous shift, shift rounds, completing operating work orders with a view to achieving a high degree of mill reliability. project.

Responsibilities

Respond to mill breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner and working closely with area operators to resolve maintenance related issues

Investigate the root cause of equipment failure and make recommendations for long term fix.

Help to develop PM’s.

Lead the troubleshooting and proper documentation (maintenance log book) of all maintenance related items

Follow-up on outstanding maintenance shift issues from previous shift, Enter appropriate work requests for required follow-up work.

Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of troubleshooting resources (prints, manuals, job plans, tools, spare parts, etc.)

Installation, manufacturing and Calibration of equipment or machinery

Maintain lockout certifications as assigned

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
-
Holds the equivalent of a certified Mechanic trade ticket or a 2 year degree in mechanical studies combined with related experience

3+ years industrial mechanic experience required (including bearings, hydraulics, pumps, gearboxes)

Welding and Fabrication skills
-
Ability to use a variety of mechanical troubleshooting equipment and techniques (i.e. laser alignment)

Experience in reliability techniques & knowledge of lubrication principles is an asset
-
Strong, demonstrated troubleshooting skills

Ability to work extended hours and rotating shift as required

Ability to work at heights in a manufacturing environment required
