Wheel Loader Operator

The Wheel Loader Operator will train in all aspects of the Log Yard operations and to reach a level of competence, influencing maximum use and efficiency of the plant equipment and to follow standard operating policies. Ensure incoming raw materials are discharged and distributed in an efficient and safe manner. Meet the production line requirements for raw material from the wood yard and ensure a continuous flow. To assist in the achievement of production targets while maintaining high levels of quality, safety, and environmental awareness within the department.

Starting Wage: $17+/hour with an additional shift premium of $3.
 

Schedule: Swing Shift - Changing Bi-weekly, 12-hours rotating, 7:00am - 7:00pm and 7:00pm - 7:00am.

 

Responsibilities

  • Undertake a comprehensive training program to be able to run every aspect of the Wood Yard department (wheel loader, truck dumpers, etc.).
  • Ensure quality control/stock rotation for product stockpiles.
  • Ensure the wood yard equipment and machinery is maintained in good order.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance - tire pressure, oil, grease, diesel fuel, hoses for leaks and all moving parts for proper function.
  • Report any equipment problems to the wood yard supervisor.
  • Adhere to all safety rules.

 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and motor skills sufficient to safely operate equipment in an active work area.
  • Hearing must be sufficient to safely operate heavy equipment in an active work area.
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools and the ability to lift and move 50 pounds to perform routine functions.
  • Ability to work at heights, in hot and environments required. 
  • Basic understanding of math, reading, and writing.
